Korean immersive XR technology company Oliplanet is actively diversifying its XR content business portfolio. On the 28th, Oliplanet announced the complete overhaul of its business XR solution ‘ElypeCS’, followed by the beta launch of its immersive content portal ‘Xromeda’ on the 29th.
In the era of spatial computing, immersive content, which is crucial, typically requires head-mounted displays (HMDs) like the Vision Pro, making it difficult for general users to enjoy. However, Oliplanet has managed to launch the ‘Xromeda’ immersive content portal by leveraging technology to reduce the size of its large datasets and stream them via the web. Xromeda is a web-based portal accessible on various devices such as smartphones, tablets, and PCs. It allows users to experience realistic online representations of appealing offline spaces like pop-up stores, showrooms, galleries, exhibitions, and showcases, which might be hard to visit due to time constraints or distance.
Minwoo Kim, Head of Business at Xromeda, stated, “Currently, Xromeda is actively collaborating with partners who own popular spatial IP and 360-degree content to introduce a variety of spatial content. We aim to develop the service so that customers can not only experience immersive spaces but also engage in communication, commerce, and community activities.” The official service launch of Xromeda is scheduled for the third quarter of this year, with various promotions prepared to commemorate the beta launch.
Additionally, Oliplanet is preparing to launch a dedicated cloud service for XR content, following the business XR solution ‘ElypeCS’ and the XR content portal ‘Xromeda’.
