As the investigation progressed, law enforcement officials discovered a total of eleven sets of human remains in the vicinity.
The first shocking discovery was made on December 11, 2010, when the remains of Melissa Barthelemy, a 24-year-old, were found. Within two days, three additional bodies were uncovered, identified as Megan Waterman (22), Amber Lynn Costello (27), and Maureen Brainard-Barnes (25).
In March 2011, partial remains belonging to Jessica Taylor were located along Ocean Parkway. Astonishingly, authorities revealed that Taylor’s remains had previously been found in Manorville eight years prior, adding an unsettling layer to this perplexing case.
