The COVID-19 pandemic has undeniably cast a shadow over the realm of in-person gatherings, particularly in the dynamic world of technology conferences. However, it’s not just a tale of loss and limitation; it’s also one of adaptability and transformative progress. The recent shift to virtual platforms has not only maintained the essence of knowledge sharing and networking but has remarkably expanded its reach. This transition, though still stabilizing, demonstrates human resilience and our inherent ability to evolve.
Amid this backdrop, AI Corespot, a conference traditionally celebrated for its vibrant in-person interactions, successfully pivoted to a digital format. Sponsored by Digit7, this year’s event (25th June) saw an unprecedented attendance of over 1000 participants, a testament to the growing accessibility and appeal of virtual forums.
The highlight of AI Corespot was undoubtedly the session led by Deepak Singh, an emerging name name synonymous with innovation at the intersection of healthcare and technology. While AI Corespot primarily focused on retail, Singh introduced a riveting perspective by discussing the application of AI in retail to address healthcare challenges. The session’s popularity was palpable, with a flurry of inquiries in the Q&A segment.
Post-conference, I had the privilege of engaging in a sideline conversation with Deepak Singh. His journey is as inspiring as it is impressive. With a rich background in telecommunications at Samsung Electronics and significant strides in healthcare with Highmark Health, Singh embodies the spirit of a mentor and a pioneer steering into digital health and telehealth domain. His inclination towards public speaking stems from a desire to share knowledge broadly and effectively.
Singh’s vision for the future is clear and compelling. He aims to continue blending research with practical industry experience, focusing on scalable, cost-effective solutions that have a direct impact on people’s lives. His transition from telecom to healthcare was driven by a personal mission to improve healthcare accessibility in remote areas, a challenge he experienced growing up in an underdeveloped region in India. When asked about future plans, he says, and I quote “I like to share what I learned. I like to learn and research new ways to doing things that are cost effective and scalable and directly impacts people’s life. And that is why I am delving more into research while working in the industry so that I can know both sides of it.” While explaining about his transition from telecom to healthcare, he says “I always wanted to find accessible ways to delivering healthcare in remote parts of the world. Coming from a underdeveloped state in India, I have experienced this firsthand the situations when healthcare advice is not available in time. Telehealth and digital health is the answer to that.”
His tenure as a student consultant at Philips Healthtech laid the groundwork for his impact in healthcare. At Highmark, he is instrumental in developing products that enhance healthcare accessibility, even in the most remote parts of Pennsylvania. Singh’s work with Samsung, leveraging their extensive market penetration, further amplifies his impact.
Singh’s research, documented through Medium articles and academic papers, is gathering momentum. He also advises a company (Nextazy) for their health services projects in dealing with special care and requirements to execute healthcare projects. And all of these for free just to gather experience and knowledge of every domain. His network is expanding, bringing him closer to his goal of making healthcare universally accessible, one individual at a time.
As we reflect on the AI Corespot conference and the insights shared by leaders like Deepak Singh, it’s clear that AI is already making significant strides in sectors like healthcare and retail. Examples abound, of AI-driven diagnostics, telehealth innovations, and AI-powered retail solutions enhancing customer experiences and operational efficiency.
As I reflect, AI Corespot 2021 was not just a conference; it was a beacon of hope and innovation in challenging times. The resilience shown by the tech community in adapting to a virtual format and the groundbreaking ideas shared are a testament to the unwavering spirit of human ingenuity. As we continue to navigate these uncertain times, stay tuned for more updates on exciting technological breakthroughs that promise to reshape our world for the better.
