The NBA’s Golden State Warriors have reportedly signed Jerome Robinson, a former first-round pick, for a training camp deal. The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Robinson was initially the 13th overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2018 NBA Draft, following his impressive career at Boston College.
In his final college season, Robinson showcased his scoring prowess, averaging 20.7 points per game while demonstrating impressive shooting percentages, 48.5% from the field and 40.9% from beyond the arc. Despite these collegiate feats, his NBA career hasn’t met the same success levels, with his last NBA stint coming in the 2021 season with the Washington Wizards.
On Monday, Wojnarowski announced that Robinson would join the Golden State Warriors’ training camp. In his report, Wojnarowski mentioned, “Jerome Robinson, the free-agent guard, has agreed to a training camp contract with the Golden State Warriors, according to sources. Robinson, a former lottery pick with the Clippers, has played with the G League’s Santa Cruz over the past two years and will vie for an open slot on the Golden State roster.”
In the previous G League season, Robinson averaged 14.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game with a 46.3% field goal percentage and a 36.2% three-point range in 24 regular-season games (21 as a starter). In his three-year NBA career with the Clippers and Wizards, Robinson has averaged 4.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game with a 36.3% field goal percentage and a 31.0% three-point percentage over 113 regular-season games. Additionally, he has featured in five NBA playoff games.
At a mere 26 years old, Robinson provides the Warriors a relatively young player to test in their training camp. His recent performance in the G League could hint at a potential resurgence, making this a smart gamble for the Golden State Warriors.
