After sharing seven years of marital bliss, “Modern Family” star Sofía Vergara and “True Blood” actor Joe Manganiello are ending their marriage, a close source to the couple confirmed to Page Six. As one of Hollywood’s most glamorous couples, their decision to divorce has shocked fans and industry insiders alike.
In a joint statement released to Page Six, Vergara and Manganiello said, “We’ve arrived at the tough decision to part ways. As two individuals who hold deep affection and respect for each other, we request the respect of our privacy as we navigate this significant shift in our lives.”
Sofía Vergara, who just turned 51, is currently enjoying her birthday in the Italian hotspot Capri, surrounded by her closest friends. Noticeably absent from her celebrations, however, was Manganiello, and the absence of her wedding ring did not go unnoticed.
An inside source shared that the couple “has been drifting apart for some time now, taking some time apart to reflect on their future”. Last spotted together a month ago in Hoboken, New Jersey, Vergara had visited Manganiello on the set of his upcoming project “Nonnas”, featuring Vince Vaughn.
The celebrated “America’s Got Talent” judge, Vergara, has been actively sharing snippets of her Italian holiday on Instagram. However, the absence of Manganiello from these photos has sparked curiosity among fans. Amid the speculation, Vergara shared an intriguing post, reading, “When life gives you lemons, you come to Italy to squeeze them”.
The fans were quick to express their concern, with comments like, “Is anyone else wondering where’s Joe?” and “Wondering where her husband is, he hasn’t shown up in any of the photos or videos.”
Manganiello’s birthday post for Vergara on Instagram further fuelled the speculation. The message was straightforward, reading “!!Feliz Cumpleaños Sofía!!!” Fans were quick to point out the apparent change in tone, with one commenting, “Am I the only one who doesn’t like the way it sounds? ‘Sofía’… not even ‘My love, My beloved wife.'”
As the news broke, another source stated that the couple’s friends initially justified Manganiello’s absence due to his filming commitments. However, with the onset of the actors’ strike, these reasons fell flat. “So now no one out there with her is even attempting to pretend that it’s not over. It’s over. It’s done,” the source added.
The couple tied the knot in an extravagant ceremony in Palm Beach in November 2015. Attended by 400 guests, including the co-stars from their respective shows, Vergara’s “Modern Family” team and Manganiello’s “True Blood” mates, the wedding was a high-profile event.
Now, as the couple embarks on their separate paths, fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting more details of this surprising split.
